Homeworld 3 is delayed and can now launch in February 2024, Gearbox Publishing introduced on Thursday. The schedule change confirms what followers had suspected, as beforehand the sci-fi real-time technique recreation had been slated for a launch someday within the first half of this 12 months.

In a Twitter assertion, Gearbox stated the delay is supposed to provide these followers “the standard expertise [they] deserve.” The studio added that “we want extra time to refine and polish the sport.” Homeworld 3 will launch on Home windows PC.
Blackbird Interactive, which made the spinoff/prequel Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak for Gearbox in 2016, has been creating Homeworld 3 since 2017.
This makes the second delay for Homeworld 3, whose first launch window was 2022. The collection dates to 1999 however hasn’t seen a main-series launch since 2003’s Homeworld 2 (although a remastered model of that did launch in 2015).
The collection’ dormancy comes from former writer THQ’s chapter and liquidation 10 years in the past; Gearbox’s acquisition of the franchise; a crowdfunding marketing campaign to help the long-awaited sequel; after which Embracer Group’s acquisition of Gearbox, suspending that marketing campaign.
