Former Naughty Canine developer and Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves co-director, Bruce Straley, has identified similarities between in-game scenes and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One scenes. The photographs in query are from the favored practice sequence in Uncharted 2.
Did Mission: Not possible – Lifeless Reckoning search inspiration from Uncharted 2?
Over on Twitter, Straley posted comparability screenshots from Uncharted 2 and Lifeless Reckoning, calling the similarities “the sincerest type of flattery.” Straley’s tweet garnered some attention-grabbing responses. Whereas some followers had been amused, others identified that Uncharted 2 borrowed the thought of the practice sequence from Jurassic Park and criticized his tweet.
In Straley’s protection, his tweet doesn’t appear to be implying that Lifeless Reckoning copied an concept from Uncharted 2 — simply that these scenes are comparable. And as IGN has identified, Lifeless Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie has made no secret of the truth that he’s sought inspiration from the Uncharted video games previously.
Again in 2015, McQuarrie advised a fan that Mission: Not possible – Rogue Nation’s airplane sequence was partly impressed by Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Sport director Justin Richmond responded by saying McQuarrie “made my month.”
Regardless of the case with Lifeless Reckoning, the scenes highlighted by Straley do bear a placing resemblance. Make of that what you’ll.
