Star Citizen maker Cloud Imperium Video games has confirmed that it’s reducing a “small quantity” of jobs.
In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, the corporate stated that whereas it had reduce some jobs, it was persevering with to rent for “key roles”. The layoffs seem to have stemmed from a return to workplace, particularly to Cloud Imperium’s new studio in Manchester, UK.
Phrase that layoffs had been hitting Cloud Imperium were first reported by Game Developer, which cited employees taking to LinkedIn to share that that they had been made redundant.
Producer Annie Bouffard – who has since resigned from the studio – complained that Cloud Imperium had a “extremely poisonous” working tradition. She added that she had beforehand raised considerations of attainable layoffs solely to be “gaslighted” by her boss.
